hello!

a newbie question

i have a 2 shafted floor loom

i want to sley 2/dent so how to thread?

1-2 and 1-2 etc? or 1-1 and 1-1 etc

i am thinking that if i thread 1-2 then in the sley these 2 threads will be to the sley together so i will have problem with the shed....

thank you!!!

I am new to weaving and in reading a draft how do I do the repeats like if it tells you to do x5 do I go through the order one time then start over and do it 4 more times or is it 6 times the first then the repeats. I hope that is clear as mud. Deborah

If you want plain weave, you thread the HEDDLES 1-2-1-2 with single threads (assuming you aren't doing basketweave). THEN you put two consecutive threads in each dent of your reed. Pick your pairs with care to avoid threads crossed in the reed.

Somehow it is easily misunderstood that a weaver can (and often should) place more than one thread in a dent of the reed. I routinely use between 2 and 6 - delicate threads actually profit from this as each thread receives less abrasion.

When  your reed is sleyed, tie on as usual.

thank you Sara! i am wondering if there is problem with the shed when thread from shaft 1 and shaft 2 are together in one sley dent....

As long as they're not crossed betweent the heddles and reed, no.
