When you increase the number of pattern shafts on you drawloom do you add evenly to each side or all to one side and shift the cords over? For example I'm going from 10 pattern shafts to 14 pattern shafts.

I went the half on each side and moved the current cords down two, but thought perhaps the other way might be mire efficient. So I'm asking you all! :)

The left side pulls the shafts less and so this is where your front shaft is attached, to the first handle.  The right side pulls the cord further to raise the shaft higher, so this has to be the back pattern shaft.
