Hello Everyone!

Thank you so much for all the help you have given me in beginning my drawloom journey. I have woven my first few samples and am loving weaving on the drawloom! The loom is obiously working, but I still have 2 issues that can be resolved for better weaving.

I am using a Glimakra Standard with a vertical countermarche. The first thing I would like to resolve is the fact that the vertical countermarche jacks are not straight up and down in their resting position. The bottom part of the jack actually is quite a bit to the left, pictures to follow later today.

Finally, treadle 3 is not completely opening the shed. For some reason when I step on treadle 3, treadle 2 (treadle 3's opposite) also moves and makes the upper and lower lamm of shaft 1 hit each other. I really don't understand this issue as stepping on one treadle should not effect another treadle. I'll try to get a good photo, but may actually have to post a video of this one.

Thank you immensely for your help!

Oliver figured things out, mostly. We shortened the cords to the lobg lamms, which made the vertical countermarche vertical again. Probably should have referred to JoAnne Halk's book for that one.

Oliver realigned the cordd to the treadles and I shortened the lifting cord on treadle 3.

Now I just need to figure out if there is a way to get the peak of tge shed in front of the beater bar. I currently have to push the beater back to get a large enough shed to throw the shuttle. Off to read Dawn's article!

Hi Erica,

If you get down at the front of the loom and press on each treadle as you watch the lamms, you will see what they are doing.  It is best to tie the treadles lower if the lamms touch the treadles.  If the upper lamms touch the lower lamms, tie the upper lamms higher.

Before making too many changes, make sure that the warp threads at rest are at the bottoms of the long eyes in your ground heddles.

Thanks JoAnne,

Becky's video says to have the upper lamms fairly level, but I may cant them up a bit more. I moved my beayer bar up a bit more as well. The weaving is going much better.

I promise photos of my samples soon. :)

To get the peak of the shed, you must move the beater back.

The one issue with the drawloom is the narrow shed - not as deep as on a regular countermarche loom.
