I have an older AVL loom, folding dobby, without the auto cloth advance system. I am considering adding the auto cloth advance but wonder if anyone has used both the old style system and the new style system.  AVL tells me that the new style is much better, more accurate and easier to set up.  The new style costs $795, and I would have to find an old style system since they no longer sell it.  Any thoughts.

The old system requires multiple cog wheels depending on your required set and isn't as easy to "finesse".  The newer is more infinitely adjustable, easier if you have to unweave and works nicely.
