I have a chance to pick up a CP loom, and I'm wondering how you like yours.   I know the answer will be "try it" but I won't have the opportunity to do that in this case.   I'm 5 fee 9 inches tall and love my B5  - 40 inch Macomber, but I'm wondering how those of you who are a little taller like your CP loom.

Thanks,

And, can someone explain how the shafts raise.   There don't seem be to jacks like with a regular Macomber.   I'm assuming the shafts get pused up somehow. . . .

On Macomber's CP loom (portable loom often referred to as a Baby Mac) the shafts are lifted by jacks under the shafts.  This is different from the type B looms that lift the shafts at the top of the shaft.

Another difference, other than size, is that the treadles are hinged at the front.  On the type B looms, the treadles are hinged at the back.

Thanks Weaver-dyer!   Do you have a CP?  If so, how do you like it and how tall are you?  (I'm worried that I'm too tall for this loom.)

Hello,

I'm 5' 4" tall.  I'm thinking you might be a little too tall.

I am 5' 6" and I don't have any problems weaving on my 24" baby mac.  Don't know if it makes a difference, but my Mac is pretty ancient.

I'm 5'10" and I don't have any trouble weaving on my CP.  I also have a B5, but got the 24" CP for workshops and sheep to shawls because it's easily portable.  I love it, and use it at home almost as much as the B5.

I ordered a brand new, built for me, 20" 8 harness from Macomber and it is making it's way across the country right now.  I have been looking for a used one for ages and finally bit the bullet and just ordered one.  I have a 40" type B and love it.  Have had it for over 40 yrs.  I am so happy to see the comments about weavers being happy with their CP's.  I am 5'4 and am not concerned about the height.  The loom was shipped within 6 weeks of ordering and I have enjoyed communicating with the folks at Macomber.  Last year I added four more harnesses to my type B for a total of 8.  I am now exploring the incredible range of possibilities for 8 shaft weaving.  The baby mac should be "delivered" this coming week.  I can't wait.

Welcome to the world of CP owners.  I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I know you will enjoy weaving on your new baby Mac. Just remember to remove the treadle rods before folding up your baby. Michael

I am excited! I just purchased a used 1971 40" weaving width. It is a ad-a-harness Type B large Mac It has 8 harnesses and appears to have room for 2 more. The only booklet that came with it is: "Ad-A-Harness Looms Ad-A-Cad/Cam Systems.  Are there manuals that discuss this loom in detail?
