I recently purchased a second warp beam to use for supplemental warps.  I also purchased a second back beam (the extension that fits on the existing back beam).  What are the best uses for this second back beam?

When you warp with two different materials, the second back beam allows you to separately tension each warp.  This is very good for when you have two materials with different tensile strength or stretch.

The second beam also allows you to wind your warp stripes separately from the main body of the warp.

The second back beam, as opposed to the second warp beam, enables you to keep the 2 different warps coming off the different warp beams separate.  Use it with the second warp beam as decribed above.  I use such a setup for 3-d (stuffed) double weave,  and decorative edgings like ribetes on ruanas.

Do you use the second back beam when doing a plain double weave or only where you are adding stuffing?
