Hi,

I am new here and hoping to be able to purchase a used Macomber within the week or so. I typically warp back to front using a raddle which has precipitated my "raddle search." The loom I am looking at has a 40" weaving width (B loom with 8 shafts and a 16 shaft castle). I saw where Macomber offers raddles. Are there any pictures of one of their raddles anywhere? I would like a raddle with 2 dents to the inch. I know I can resort to making one, but not my first choice.

I have been devouring the information here; it is truly amazing and I thank everyone for their willingness to share.

I have a Macomber raddle that came with my loom, but the sections on it are every half inch.   To me, two inches sounds much too wide for a raddle section.   Mine has 1/8 inch metal rods that stick out of the wood 2.75 inches, evey half inch.   If you have a drill press, it should be fairly easy to make.   Without a drill press, it will look a little wonky but will probably work just fine.

Yes, that is the size I said I desired: 2 dents per inch or 2 sections per inch meaning every 1/2 inch. I guess I will order that from Macomber once I get the loom and see what else I may need.

Thank you so much for your help!

I misread your message!   I thought you said a dent evey 2 inches rather than 2 dents to the inch.

For years I just used a raddle I made.  The I ordered a Schacht raddle and have been using it ever since.  It came with 1 inch spaces and was pre-drilled and had extra dents to insert to make 1/2 inch spaces.
