Michael, there are two things that I can think of that may be giving her trouble.  First, you have to unhook the treadles to fold the CP-11.  It will not fold with the treadles tied up if using the hooks.  Second, the treadle bar has to be released from the frame and lifted before folding.  There are instructions for folding the portables on Sara's blog (not really for folding it, but for unfolding and then the instruction to "reverse" the procedure).

for years when I was teaching.  Yes, you have to disconnect the treadle tie-ups (which most people don't want to do because them they have to be redone for that workshop they are going to...). If you don't unhook the treadles, you can risk bending and damaging the little metal tie-up connectors. Then, there are 2 flat, black metal pieces, held with wing nuts, that connects the uprights (front legs) of the breast beam (up about 6"-8" from the floor near the front of the loom) with the inside base of the loom (on both right and left down low).  Completely unscrew and remove the wing nut end of each of these (I then used to reconnect the wing nut to it's solid screw connection for safe keeping), and let the other end remain attached...it flops around a bit, but it's okay.  Then LIFT the entire breast beam and all will RAISE up and move toward the castle....she will have to adjust her warp tension if the loom is already dressed. If I remember, there's some kind of chain thing that holds all this into a secure "bunch" while going to that workshop. If traveling with this "bunch", do remember to cover and protect your warp! I used to have to fold these little babies up a LOT!

Cat has it right and is only missing one step.  Here's the process:  1) remove treddle hooks from lams.  2) remove two wing nuts from flat metal diagonal side supports, pulling off the supports and putting the wingnuts back on the empty bolts.  3) loosen the two wing nuts on the short brackets that hold the treddle axle against the floor.  Rotate these from the lower position (axel on the floor) to the upper position (axle in the air).  There should be a stopper screw on each side to keep them from going all the way around.  4) lift on the breast beam while tipping the loom slightly until the loom folds.  You may have to jiggle the treadles a bit to get them into the vertical position as they just barely fit in the upright position.  I like to put a bungie cord (shock cord) across them to keep them from flopping around.  5) hook up the clip on the side chains to hold the loom in the folded position.

Note that the loom comes with retainer pins that will keep the frames from falling out during transport   These go through little holes in the top corner of the left and right side of the castle.  There are two sets of holes on each side, the upper for weaving, and the lower for transporting.  If yours are missing, you can replace them with a stout wire (like coat hanger wire) with a loop on one end.  They can also be used to hold one or more frames in the "up" position during threading.   If any of this is confusing let me know and I'll post photos.

I called the lady in VT and she looked here as a guest and called later to ask me to thank everyone.

Could you help me find a post I read a few months ago that describs and has pictures showing how this could be done so that the CP11 could be folded without undoing the tie-up. Having trouble finding it again.

Thank you.
