Hi, I am Threshkin (brownie points if you know the reference) I live in Denver I first tried weaving about 40 years ago at a community arts and craft fair in the small town i lived in. A lady was demonstrating weaving and offered to let me try. About an hour later my parents pulled me away from the loom because it was time to go home. A few weeks later I received a pocket tissue cover made from the cloth I wove. Oh, the joys of living in a small town where everyone knows you! Flash forward 35 years. My kids are growing up and i am looking for a new hobby. I remember having so much fun weaving all those years ago and decide to try it again. I now own three floor looms, two spinning wheels and enough stash to fill a bedroom. Which is no where near enough of course! I mainly weave items intended for regular use. This includes towels, shawls, napkins, table runners, and rugs. I get most of my design ides from reading and looking at other weaver's work. I get my color pallet from the natural world all around us. My weaving related interests include Spinning, Dyeing, Photography, and Woodworking. I hope to be able to help make Weavolution the premier place for weavers to visit for ideas, inspiration, and solutions.

Hello!  I'm afraid I don't get any brownie points.  I live near Denver, though I'm seldom there.  I'm excited that Threshkin started this group and forum.  I hope lots of people visit!

I've been weaving of & on (mostly off) for ~30 years.  I've always loved the process - except for fringing.  I have two floor looms, and another on the way, a spinning wheel, two charkas, a few drop spindles, too many but never enough knitting needles, and fiber and yarn to last a lifetime.

I get my ideas all over the place, sometimes from just playing.

I also hope that we all can help make Weavolution the premier place for weavers to gather.

Good morning all. 

I live in Aurora, but usually tell people Denver, it makes the location conversation shorter when talking to people from other states.

I'm a rather new weaver.  My first exposure to weaving when when I was in grade school... MANY years ago.  Last year I took Judy's 4 Shaft beginning weaving class at Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins.  I have kept a loom busy since then.

Now, I am ready to give up this work nonsense so I can weave, knit and hike all the time.  But, alas I still have to support myself so that is not an option for now.

I'm a member of RMWG and Boulder Handwoven Guild.  Today I am off to Estes to demo on a floor loom in the RMWG booth.

Good evening! No brownie points for me, either. (I thought about googling it, but that would be cheating!)

I, too, took my first weaving class from Judy at Shuttles. I took my first spinning class there with Maggie. Those two have a lot of fiber addictions to answer for!

In no particular order: I live in Lafayette, belong to the Handweavers Guild of Boulder, work at Schacht Spindle Co., been weaving five years and have a growing collection of Schacht equipment :-). I have a husband who wants to be a farmer but is still working his engineering day job,  a daughter in high school with an overactive social life and a son in middle school who has to be driven to karate classes 3-4 days a week. I completely missed Estes this year due to the fox(es) hanging around our yard trying to eat the chickens - I'm thinking about taking vacation and going to Taos instead.

I like to weave things that get used. My first little rag rug is kinda shredded but still in use in front of the kitchen sink and I don't care that it's stained and gets used to wipe the floor occasionally. That's what it's for!

I'm helping Weavolution by posting - something I rarely do on other websites.

Hi folks,

I live in Thornton and also belong to the Handweaver's Guild of Boulder. I've been weaving for 3 or so years on my 8 shaft Schacht table loom. I like weaving towels because you can thread it, put in a long warp and just play. If I don't like a pattern I only have to weave it for 24", then I'm off the hook. ;) I mostly learned to weave from books, with some help and advice from guild study groups and weaving friends.

I have 3 kids, 2 in high school and one in grade school. My DH is a teacher, and I work at home.

I've been on Ravelry for a while and love it. I am so excited to find a site like this for weaving!

Greetings.  I live in Loveland, Colorado and am a member of the Northern Colorado Weavers Guild and the Handweavers Guild of Boulder.  I weave lots of scarves and am very fond of Jaggerspun Zephyr which is a 50/50 wool/silk blend.  I also enjoy weaving with "skinny" bamboo.

Recently, I purchased a sewing machine with the hope of moving beyond squares and rectangles (although I love those shapes!). 

I'm very fond of twills, huck and bronson lace, and making overshot look contemporary.  I'm and admirer of network drafting but don't have the shafts ;-(

Finally, I have a serious potholder loom addiction!

Hi all.  I am Jeanne-Marie.  I live in Longmont and have been weaving for about 16 years now.  I am also a member of the Handweavers Guild of Boulder.

 I love working with the study group as it has been so very inspirational.  I enjoy weaving just about anything I can and usually have my 4 shaft counterbalance leclerc, 8 shaft baby wolf, 4 shaft struco and a rigid heddle warp up and ready to go.  Linda got me on a kick of trying to weave an hour a day.  Which I have been doing for the last year and 1/2.  The only problem is that there are times that I have inspiration than time for.

I'm Tami and I live in the NE corner of CO. Sometime member of High Plains Spinners and Weavers Guild based in Yuma.

I just got my RH not too long ago.  But I have been spinning for over a year now. I've been knitting / crocheting for over 30 years and really enjoy all things fibery. Even when it wasn't cool! LOL!!

I really like that this is a place to learn and maybe after a bit I can pass on what I've learned to others.

Hi! I am Bonnie Inouye and I have lived in Colorado off and on since 1971; I have been weaving since 1967. We have a cabin in Gothic, 8 miles north of Crested Butte on a dirt road that is closed all winter. We are there all summer, every summer, plus a few weeks in October most years and often for Christmas and New Years and some other times  We were in western CO   in 2009 from February 1 until September 3rd. I belong to the San Juan Weavers Guild and some years to the Boulder guild. I lived in Boulder 1988-1990 and was very happy there.

Now I am living in Maryland, near Washington D.C. until late May, but I will be in Denver in April. I'm giving a program about woven imagery and a 3-day workshop on large-scale twills for the Denver guild, the Rocky Mountain Weavers. The workshop is now full, with 20 people and 20 looms.

I write articles for WeaveZine and Handwoven and such, and have one book finished and in print. Mostly I teach workshops for guilds and conferences; I taught in Seattle and Coupeville, WA in January and in Boston in March. My WeaveZine articles appeared in July and August of 2009 and the podcast interview with me was posted in June of 2008.

I live in unincorporated Weld County.

I'm a member of Rocky Mountain Weavers Guild. I've been weaving for 26 years. I concentrate mostly on silk, cotton, and finer threads. (I divested myself of most of my wool to make room for all of the other stuff, and then I started knitting, so now I have to maintain two stashes: weaving yarns and knitting yarns.)

I consider myself an advanced intermediate weaver. I'm comfortable warping fine threads, I'll try anything. I have an AVL 16 shaft loom (previously loved by Pat Cleveland), but it doesn't have a computer attachment. I also use my Schacht 8 shaft loom a lot. I recently took the Diane de Souza workshop at Shuttles and had much fun working with the interesting yarns (tencel and related blends, bamboo and related blends, seaweed/silk combos, etc.) that were used.

My studio is under construction and I'm knitting to fill the fiber void during that process. I occasionally tell my husband that I need to weave, and he helps me move one of the looms into some other space while I complete a project.

Live in the Houston area. Just bought a Glimakra Standard from an art group in the Atlanta area. I'm having to strip it and refinish it. The person that helped with the buying of the loom is a rag rug weaver. Before we left to come back home after picking the loom up, she invited us to her studio at her home to show us some of her works of art. She really inspired me to want to get my loom cleaned, refinished, and back together so I can get started on making  rugs. i do have a Loet 24" loom. Will be retiring soon and want to start  weaving rugs to try to supplement our income. My wife knits, crochets, sews, and tats. We also have a quilting machine. I have just started quilting, too. I thinking we can start a fiber arts business together with what we both can do. .................Steve..................
