I too am in the process of getting set up for a baby blanket for my new & first grandbaby born May 5th. I can't decide on the pattern. I spun a tencel, merino superwash fiber for the weft & will probably combine it with a tencel... it will be for a Christmas present. What pattern are you using? I like the twill but huck weave keeps calling to me also.   Gail

For this one I thought I would do a rosepath variation - just to give the plain stripes a bit more interest.

My only reservation about huck weave for a baby blanket is the thought of those snagging little fingers and teeth (my son bit through several threads on a commercial knit blanket that had a lovely float-looking pattern to it).  But maybe I just have a more destructive youngun (who has also chewed the finish off of the rail of his crib) - personally, I think it must be Daddy's genes coming out.  Couldn't be mine.

Let me know how it comes out!

Wow - I wish Ravelry had a better way of letting you know there were comments on something....I'm just now getting around to finishing up threading, and hadn't checked this recently.

I've got two floor looms - the 36" loom is a bit small for what I wanted, so have to weave the blanket in two panels and stitch together.  The finished width (after wet finishing) is apx 36" wide and the finished length is apx 52".  I wanted something that would grow with the kids for a little while at least....

Let me know how yours goes!
