I am a new owner of Oxaback Lilla 80, and as this is my first countermarch, I've been following both Big book of weaving and Joanne Hall's Tying up the CM loom.  Everything looks great until I take the pin out. The vertical jacks go left and all the shafts drop 1.5".  That makes a shed very very small. If I tye up treadles higher to get bigger shed, short and long lams are hitting each other.  Joanne is discussing weighing long lams in case like that, but I hope there is some other solution.  I read all there is on this site but can't find anything like this.  Anyone, help, please!

p.s.

It just came to my mind that it's Covergence week, and usually all the experts are busy there.  I think I better go to my old model F and forget about this young one.

If you purchased the Lilla from us, there are tieup directions and photos on the CD that ships with the loom.

The Lilla is not in need of any special tieup methods or tricks. If new to the countermarche loom, there should be a warp on the loom when taking out the pins - that will lessen any shifting or sinking of sheds.

The lams are used parallel to the floor with the treadle supported by the last connection at the rear. The lam connections then loosen a bit until the front - on 8 shafts nor more than two or three loops in the Texsolv cord.

Shed height is measured with the beater pushed back, not with the beater at rest.

If you purchased the loom elsewhere or used, we sell the CD for $30 - just send an email - customers have been quite pleased and we've yet to have a response such as you posted today.

This loom came from Germany with minimal two page instructions in Swedish. It was a gift, so I took upon myself to get the books and try to figure it out.  I did not know you have a video for Lilla.

Thank you for confirming that shed is with a beater pushed back.  I figured out by using a geometry that a shed is small in resting position. Watching you weave on Lilla I saw the beater being pushed back before the shuttle goes in.  That was quite a revelation.  No book mentions that. My model F has 4" shed, and I keep reading how countermarch looms have great big shed, so I was expecting something like that or better:)  I've never seen one in action. Live and learn!

I think I'll completely untye all the treadles, and start from scratch.  I've been adjusting so much, it's a big mess at the moment.  All lams are parallel to the floor, so that part is fine.  I did start with treadles supported by last connection.  The warp is on but untied at the moment.  Couldn't get in to do adjustments.

If it does not work out, I'll wait until you come back and order a video.

Thanks again.
