I am in the process of completing a tapestry and am using turn-backs for finishing.  I've just posted about that at my Tapestry Share blog at this link.

Thanks for the tutorial Tommye! I see the row of 1/2 hitching in thread running across the warp, as you taught me:) so I guess you didn't do a header out of cotton seine twine but used your weft yarn ? I also think I see a row of soumac where the turn back actually occurs, is that so ? would that make the tapestry turn easier? Thanks, Cathie

Thanks, Cathie. Yes, there's soumak at the point of ending of turnback and the tapestry. I use a double row of soumak rather than only one as I feel it helps hide warp peeps there better. As I start, I do seine twine for about a 1/2" as heading to get warp sett well, and then do a half-hitch to secure the beginning of the hem or turn-back. I remove the seine twine header after cutting off. The half-hitch is used at the top, also, once the other turn-back is done. With the half-hitch holding it in you don't have to worry about any weft unraveling. Tommye
