At the tail end of summer I "rescued" an ORCO 74 - 4 Harness rug loom.  In order to remove it from the house it was in I had to dismantle it and have finally gotten around to re-assembling it.  Luckily I took a ton of pictures when I disassembled.  Some questions:

Am I correct in thinking that the lamms and treadles should be "even"  lamms all at the same level and treadles all at the same level after tying up?

The reeds are lightly rusted all over.  Clean em up (methods) or just replace them?

Serial Number is 4156 on this loom, the wooden pulleys are not running as smooth as I would like:  replace? or just wax/oil with wood oil (tung or something of that nature)

If the lamms are not level, it can be hard to adjust the treadles for a better shed.  If you weave with just two shafts, it really does not matter.

Treadles do not need to be the same height.  If you have six at differet heights, you are more likely to feel that you have the correct treadle.

Tie up the treadles as low as possible for comfort and sometimes a lower position gives you better sheds.
