Hi there,

Note the post by carsinc, who is looking for a baby wolf.  I believe that is the folding loom you have for sale.

Your Grandmother's choice of looms and the phenomenal care given to the looms fill me with admiration and inspiration.  These looms deserve very special of homes.  It would be most special to see at least one stay within your extended family.  Prior experience weaving is not a requisite for claiming your grandmother's most special legacy to both your family and the weaving community.  Seeing your grandmother's looms is to know her and wish to know more about her.

I am interested in selling my Varpapuu Finlandia 8H,10 treddles loom. 45" weaving width.  The wood and workmanship is exquisite and it is in near mint condition.  Comes with its own bench. The loom is dismantled and can be shipped quickly, it weighs around 250 lbs.  I am asking $1850 + shipping cost or you may pick it up in Bend OR.  Comparable new looms sell for over $4,000.

I'm interested in the Schacht folding loom and have emailed you with a couple questions.

The Newcomb Studio is the top of the line for that loom. Grandma has it set up with a "creel" or an 'endless warp'. This is a specialized tool for rug weavers. You don't see it very often at all. She was a production weaver. You grandmother KNEW what she was doing - God bless her. I second FJacobson's words, I'd love to have met your grandmother. She was a wise and capable lady! And a very experienced rug weaver! You should definitely hold onto something of hers. Weaving is not a dying art but an obscure art.

The loom (Newcomb) alone should command $500 easily, the creel at least a couple more. But you should sell it as a set. Rug weavers still love these looms and a creel makes it all the more attractive. And it's still in fine condition.

I get melancholy seeing such a wonderful and many-faceted workshop knowing it's silent now.
