I am looking for advice and expertise on Sami band weaving. I am looking to create a range of Sami bands that can be attatched to sandals. The bands will be of three different styles and colours embroidered.

I was wondering if any weavers out there (perferably Southern hemisphere) who have advice or knowledge on how to create this range.

Much appreciated

There is a book called "the Weaver's Inkle Pattern Directory" which has a section called Baltic designs. This is the closest I have seen to Saami patterns. They fall into the category of braids using supplementary warp. I think they are easier to make on a rigid heddle loom, rather on an inkle loom. I have only a limited knowledge of these bands and patterns so I can't give further advice, but this might give you a start.

P.S. Why Southern Hemisphere?
