I'm in the process of repairing/restoring my grandmothers Kessenich loom.  It's quite an undertaking but I'm very excited about it.  I need to order a replacement reed today ( the man from kessenich is coming to an event in Wisconsin and bringing it with him) but I don't have any projects picked out.  What would be the best size reed to buy?  I'm thinking of starting with simple projects such as dish towels, scarves, placemats.  Thanks for any help!  Dorothy

Hi Dorothy,

Best of luck with your restoration. The nice thing about restoring a loom is you become familiar with every inch of the loom, and that's important.

For a reed, buy the  max size (width) your loom will allow. As far as dents per inch, a 10-12 dpi reed can accomodate for several types of structures.  Above all, enjoy the undertaking and the results.
