I just recieved delivery of an 8 shaft Countermarch Ward Loom.  These looms were made by a small firm in Tisdale Saskatchewan. They are no longer in business and I cannot find any other information on this firm.  I have put the loom together but am having trouble figuring out how to tie up the lambs.  Could someone who also has this loom send me pictures with tips on how to tie up the back of the loom.

Joanne Hall has a very good book on tying up a countermarche loom.  It will tell you how to tie the whole loom up, including the lamms, unless you actually have young sheep as a part of it (most unusual!).  Sorry, but I just coudn't resist that.

I just bought a used 8 shaft ward loom also.  We have it together but I see you have one that you got a few months ago.  Mine is also a countermarche loom.  The only thing that I'm having trouble with is the shed opening.  The chains that connect the treadles to the lower lamms...some are looser than others and I'm wondering if they should all be hooked on with consistant tension?  Did you have any tips for me regarding this?  The upper lamms are not quite even as well.  Also how wide do you get your shed to be?  Thanks for any information.  S.

I just wanted to say hi and that I am purchasing a Ward loom! I am picking it up tomorrow and I'm really excited about it! Maybe we can help each other out.

how is your loom working out for you?  Is it a countermarche?

My loom is working pretty good! I'm on my second project (I work slow since I have two little ones). Yes mine is a countermarche.

I just picked up a Ward 8 shaft loom yesterday but I have no idea how to set it up.  It looks like it should be a countermarch, but it only has one set of lower lamms.  It has ribbons/tapes which look like they might have been elastic at one time, which run from a block just over the lamms, to one corner of each shaft, across to the other corner and back down to a second block.

Would anyone be able to send me pics or info on how their working Wards are set up please?

I just messaged you Odette. I also have all the original instructions from when my looms was bought in 1983
