well, nevermind!!  I forgot that I have to add a draft (but not upload it) to get the name to allow me to put it in my project.  And when I add the draft, it's all there.

A thousand apologies.  I should have known you had this figured out already.

Hi Everyone!  Thanks for starting this group, Mary!  Our paths cross again.

I am Kathy - kathkol on Ravelry and Weavolution.  I live in Rockford, just outside Grand Rapids.  I am a new weaver, but I have been knitting, sewing, spinning and dyeing for a long time.

Hi,

I am also new to tapestry weaving.  I have been lurking in a yahoo group on tapestry (have learned a lot!)  and am working on a box weaving based on the Sarah Swett article in Handwoven.

I wonder if anyone here can recommend his/her favorite online source for yarns and supplies?  I have been ordering from halcyon, but they are way across the country and have a more general focus.

I have been using white cotton carpet warp as a warp thread.  It has been fine for this box weaving, but I have been reading that there are better choices for warp threads.

Thanks for starting this group!

Hi Geo

Which part of Cambs are you in?  I'm in Ware, Herts so we may be weaving neighbours.  An 8-shaft Glimakra sounds pretty special, though it's always the next one up that tugs isn't it!

Hi all!

I'm Siobhán de Bhaldáithe. I've been in the SCA on and off for about 10 years, now it's mostly off. I belong to Drachenwald (Nordmark) and I've just finished a "viking" coat for my 2 year old daughter in handwoven cloth. I'm so happy with it, and and I'll post a picture once I've found the battery for the camera.

I really enjoy weaving cloth for garb, but I don't really like sewing. In the past, I used to tablet weave a lot, and I hope to take that up again.

In my part of the world, I don't know that many people in the SCA who weave on floor looms, those who weave mostly weave with tablets or riggid heddle looms. I look forward to hearing how it works in other kingdoms.
