I am Baroness Catherine Aimee Le Moyne, currently territorial baroness of the Roaring Wastes (SE Michigan) in the Midrealm. One of my protegees introduced me to spinning about 10 years ago, and I have an Ashford Traveler wheel.

I have always spun with the idea of weaving - that is, pretty fine - and a year or so ago I got access to a nice 22" 4-harness Harrisville loom, and wove my first 2.25 yards ever. I'm about to start my third major project on the loom, expected to be about 8 yards of natural white, warped in 2/18 merino, weft about 2 pounds of Blue Faced Leicester that I'm getting close to finishing spinning, in a diamond twill.

Just want to let everyone know that I took a 2-day workshop from khwaln in her method of woven and traditional shibori. It was wonderful. I just love the idea that you can continue to be creative and alter your design AFTER the loom is completely warped and ready for weaving. Makes weaving all that plainweave really fun.

HI!  I joined your group, but I don't live in Arkansas, yet!   Hubby and I plan to move there in the next 3-5 years to be near my folks in North Central Arkansas.  My grandparents and great-grandparents lived in Arkansas so it has always felt like home to me.

I am new to weaving but have done all sorts of fiber and yarn crafts over the years.   I have obtained 2 4H6T counterbalance looms in the last month and am cleaning and re-finishing one before I start using it.

I had tried to post a comment to the group but it seems to have gotten lost, so I hope this one saves.

Hi Janet,

Yes, I live in Sonoma County, so you are familiar to me although I've never sent you any wool. Will you be at Spinners Day on the Farm in Healdsburg? If not, I'll see you at BSG, probably. The 180 degree water is a good idea. Seems like it would cut down on the amount of dish soap used.

Thanks,

Kay

Hi I'm Sagadis Ducan's Daughter and I've been in the SCA since 1981 and lived in several different kingdoms.  I'm currently in Dracanwald and am friends with Jahanara.  I don't have quite as many looms as she does, but I probably have more spinning wheels, about five last time I counted.  I sell tablet weaving within the SCA and on my website and for fun I play with my four shaft Baby Wolf Loom.  I'm currently working on pieceing together some handwoven fabric for a Viking Tunic for my husband and a Viking Apron Dress for me.  In reality it is more like my friend Jenny (who will probably join this list once she gets home) is figuring out how we can use such narrow bits of fabric and still get the cloths made.  She's in "The Vike UK " and been weaving, spinnging and dying for many years (and does patterns a lot better than me.

She's doing a dye workshop at our event this weekend, all things going well.  Hopefully we will get some pretty colors I can post.

I'm Cheeky.  I've done some research on warp weighted looms and Anglo-Saxon culture, but I have to move to a bigger house in order to have one of my very own.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you all have to share.
