Rag Rug Tote

The selvedges of the rug will be the top of the bag, and the header will be the sides.  Start and end with a 3.5" header.  I used a triple strand of rug warp, using all 3 colors in the warp. 

1. Take a D ring and pull the weft through it before placing it in the next shed.  
2. Repeat on the other side.  
3. Put the weft through the D ring in successive picks until the D ring is covered. 
4. Weave 3" of rag.
5. If you want a loop to fasten the bag, add one end of the loop strip with this pick, and the other end of the loop strip in the next pick.
6. Weave 3" of rag.
7. Repeat step 4 with 2 more D rings.

I sewed the sides, using french seams, pleated at the bottom so the bag can stand up.  Then I sewed strap over the D rings.   Using the same method, I wove the double bottle wine tote.  Instead of using the D rings for the handles, I wove in 3 picks of rags, braided them, then wove the other ends in to finish the handles.
