Rather than using cord or twine to tie the "choke" ties, could "Klippits", the food bag sealing clips be used instead.  I ask this question as I am afraid of damaging the warp threads when cutting the ties with scissors.  Or perhaps I should be using an easy undo knot in the first place!!  If that is the case, what knot should I be using?

I don't know about Klippits, but what I typically use is either ouchless hair-ties (fold in half around bout, pull one loop tight through the other) or else a piece of string using Peggy Osterkamp's method: http://www.weaving.cc/leasesticks/nov98tip.html  It's a nice choke tie because it doesn't come loose and is easy to remove.

I've used bag clips for other things and my experience with them is that because they are heavy (relative to a piece of string, anyway), they tend to twist around and get tangled in things if used with long pieces of string (e.g. warps).  Theyr'e great for holding Texsolv heddles, though, and that's what I mostly use them for.

I use 6 inch lengths of acrylic yarn.  I tie them in a simple overhand knot.  The roughness of the yarn holds the knot together but it is still easy to remove.  If I need a more secure knot I tie a bow knot like used on shoes.

I tried wire twist ties and was not happy.  They held well enough and were easier to tie initially but they were too stiff and got tangled up in the warp chain.

I use acrylic yarn, wrapped twice around the warp, and tied with a bow.  I keep re-using the yarn until it starts to shred.
