If you want to have more dyed yarn at the end of this study  you may dye larger or multiple skeins each time.  5g is the smallest that gives reproducible results.  5g sample skeins consume the least about of yarn, but if that is not a concern dye any size skien(s) that will fit in your jars. You'll have to keep your liquor ratio constant by using more prepared dyebath but that is all

Many colored skeins can be a  cornocopia for weavers; for anything from brocade to warp stripes.

Mary, how many yards are left from each skein after you wind the yarn chips?  And where did you buy your yarn?
