Cathie posted some pix of her set-up  on the open group.  She is testing the waters for us and the result ids that I have on my computer tiny pix. They are so small I can't see any details and clicking on them does nothing.  Trying to see things in tiny picture can't turn my hair white overnight but sure feels like it could.

So I've investigated what are options are to get larger pictures on Weavolution.  If you are inserting images in post or comment make sure that the largest dimension is 600. This is the largest it can be and the other dimension will adjust automatically.  Claudia made a video in inseting pictures here.

The other option to get larger pictures is to post them in projects.  If the file is large enough it will give an image you can see and enlarge.

I need to see what you are doing during the class  to be able to help and looking at postage sized images will not do it.

Here is at 100 x 75:

Same image 600 x 600

The size of the image is controlled in the same little box that takes the URL for the picture.  Below the URL is  a line for dimensions.

Here is the same image in projects.

I think the limit for file size for images is 2 MB.

I see Cathie has put the date of purchase on all her chemicals.  Good idea!

I've had a family emergency today.  Some of the items are gathered but I'm rather tired right now.  I have been posting medium-sized pictures to Cathie and Mary after the last Weavolution get-acquainted class.

Blessings,

Peggy

Just beyond the hay bale is an electrical box where the cook top will be hard wired into this weekend.  Table currently occupied by saws for cutting trim will become MINE!

Here are two of my dye notebooks, one has three triad studies and the other contains some of my custom color matching.  I use a wool yarn (natural color) from the Lemieux Company in Canada.  The first dye class I took introduced me to this yarn and it's been a good workhorse for me.  It comes in 3.5 ounce skeins and is a sport weight yarn.

i have the Muncell Color Book, and about 4 of the dyes are not for class - just ordered them at the same time and forgot to take them out. I'm waiting for my yarn - How many skeins will we use the first week?

Thanks Peggy and Mary!

No dyeing the first week, second week , yes.

I have the book and the dyes. I am a little behind on the other items. I should receive the scale on Monday. I plan to use silk yarn which I hope arrives soon. I hope to set up and take pictures this weekend. I am deciding what type of pot to use to dye in.

I think I've done around 15 of these triad studies which have given me that starting off recipe for color matching.  I've done this by the seat of my pants and found that I liked the meticulous work (weird, I know).  I just  tell people that I'm a reforming perfectionist first-born!

Just a couple of months ago I thought to myself that I need to begin doing more with gradations and toners so when Tien posted about this opportunity, that's why I jumped at it.  I'm also glad that I've already begun changing over to the Lanaset dyes (Permaset in my case but the same stuff).  I was frustrated getting colors laying on unevenly with the Jacquard acid dyes as well as some of the help information from Jacquard.  I've also working with trying to get 0.001 and 0.0001% DOS and sometimes it works and other times you are shocked by the results!  I am looking forward to pushing the Lanaset dyes all over the place!

I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning!  Hurry up, Thursday!!!

Karren, What size wash bottle do you prefer and how many? Thank you.

Karren K. Brito

I like one that fits in my small hands, 500ml max.  1-3 should fill all your needs and hands  ;).

Pale colors can be a challenge to level.  I hope to give you the tools to do that, maybe they will translate to Jacquard dyes later.

Karren,

What is your preferred dye pot? I have the canning pot with the burner but I have not been pleased with my heating element. I think I want to invest in something that is better and more consistent in temperature. Thank you.
