Notes

I started these towels with some hoarded Fawcett linen.  It is old and smooth and beautiful.  It is hard to find yarn that beautiful these days.  The warp went on smoothly, and I laced on the front to use as little warp as possible.

I had trouble the the Atwater-Bronson; with every other thread on shaft one and all shafts but one tied to shaft one, the shaft would slowly rise up when it was not supposed to.  I used the Schacht adaption of the rubber bands attached to the back of the treadles and added my own rubber band to the front of the loom.  With these adjustments, the first towel is going well.

The first half of the first towel had some tension problems, I had to keep tightening up the warp.  I must not have wound it on tight enough.  This is a fairly easy fix and the second half of the towel went well.

I hope to get six small towels on this warp for gifts.  Each will have a different lace pattern and a picked up border.

The towels finished beautifully.  I did run out of weft for the last one and had to scramble to find some.  (The cone I had in my stash was 16/2, not 20/2.  But a local friend came to the rescue and I finished in time.)
