If you had given one of my children a blanket when they were little I would still have it because I would have a heart attack the first time they soiled it! It's too beautiful to use!

Thank you both so much! I have a problem with my blankets - most of them (and I have made LOTS) have turned into lovies. To the point that moms have had to cut them in half so one half could be washed while the child had the other half. Organic yarns get darker so they hid a lot of stains. :)

do you have any photos of the finished project?  I make a few baby blankets here and there and I'd love to see how you finish them.

I wet finished the blanket by cold mangling it 6 times (and I have 4 more blankets to go!) I plan on machine finishing using a 1/2" hem. I find fringed blankets look messy after a lot of washings. But that is a personal opinion.

What a terrific use for natural colored cotton.  I have only used it for table linens and have enjoyed how much darker the colors have gotten over the past 20 years since I made them.

What I love here is the material you've chosen as well as the weave structure.  Great job!  I want to make some myself!  Thanks for the inspiration!

Notes

I am making a trip out to Seattle where my husband has several friends with infants! What to do (besides panic...)? This is a stash buster which will yield 5 36x48 blankets that will get darker over time and will be so soft.
