What yarn did you use?  Can you give us the issue of Handwoven you used and the draft correction?

THanks,

Claudia

I know it is in Jan/Feb 2000 Handwoven...Doramay Keasbey. I know because someone wrote to me asking if this was pebble weave. It isn't. It is a reproduction of a structure that the author studied on a pre-columbian fragment in Linda Ligon's collection. I have not seen this structure being used in present-day Peru, at least not in the places I have been, and unfortunately I don't have an example in the fragments that I have collected. It is really lovely!

The thinner ones are #10 crochet cotton, the thicker ones are 5/2 pearl cotton.

Laverne,

What is the difference between this and pebble weave?

Oh WOW!  I would love to get my hands on this pattern.  I'm going to check and see if any of the ladies in my local guild have the Jan/Feb 2000 Handwoven! Thanks and love the colours!

They're beauties! I made these too and gave them to my family last Christmas. http://weavolution.com/project/capoppy/pebble-weave-bookmarks They were fun to make. I am the one who asked Laverne about these and learned that they aren't true pebble weave. So I purchased Laverne's e-book on Pebble Weave http://www.patternfish.com/patterns/8348  built myself a backstrap loom, and completed my first pebble weave band. She gives great instructions on pebble weave in the book and on backstrap weaving on her website http://backstrapweaving.wordpress.com/. I can't wait to learn more.

Notes

This is out of an old Handwoven magazine.  Found mistake in draft, confirmed with Madelyn.  Weaves pretty easy, but very time consuming.  Going to keep a couple of these for myself this time!
