I'm in the home stretch of adding more shafts to my Glimakra loom.  I'm noticing that I can't seem to get the height of my lower lamms quite even.  The back three lower lamms are almost a half inch lower than the front five when viewed from the side.  Shortening the Texsolve by one hole results in those shafts being  too high.  If I go back to the next lower hole but keep the feet of the peg out (I don't insert the feet into the hole of the lamm) I get the perfect height.  No such problem with the upper lamms.  Would I be making a big mistake in keeping the feet out for those back three lower lamms?  Other ideas?

1. Are you doing this tuning with the locking pins in place?

If not, put them in so things hold still while adjusting.

2. The test of a countermarche tieup is an even shed floor - try treadling your loom and note whether the shafts sink evenly. If some connections are not lining up, adjust those. It can happen that the lams are not all even and the shed is just fine.

Hi Sara,

Yes the locking pins are in.  I'll proceed and check the shed floor as you suggested.  Thanks!

Diane,

How did your adjustments go?

I am about to go through this on my Glimakra. :)

I took the time to adjust my Ideal quite well and it is worth the time and effort.

Hi Erica, As advised I didn't worry about the discrepancy.  I had bigger issues later with the treadle tie-up and getting a good shed but eventually I succeeded, wove an item, and am in the process of warping the loom for  eight shaft color and weave yardage.  The treadle tie-up is far more complicated (I wove the first project in tabby just to keep things simple); hopefully all will go well!
