I'm making rag rug handbags. I want to make Texas flag style rag rug handbag. I have down the blue field with the red and white strips. I need to know how to do the star. Does anyone have a good idea? I'm almost finished with blue, red and white strips. HELP!

You can do it with in-lay -
You can do it with in-lay - just lay the white into the shed where it needs to be and carry the blue across behind it. Make a 'cartoon' (draw the star the size you want it and follow that).
Hope that makes sense.
cheers,
Laura
Laura, I think I understand
Laura, I think I understand you. Weave the blue regular but add the white ( for the star) on top of the blue weft in the warps that would make the star pattern. I have a polycaronate plastic star pattern. I 'm guessing I need to make a drawing and decide when and where to insert the white pieces? Would graph paper be what I need to draw the blue section with the star?
graph paper would work
graph paper would work fine, or just do it 'free hand' following your star pattern if it's the right size.
Yes, open the shed, insert the blue weft and beat it in, then lay the white into the shed on top of the blue.
cheers,
Laura
