I have started recommending to people who leave notes with beginner problems that they consider a private consult with a Cyber-Fiber teacher.  Since Mary Rios and Amelia Garripoli have beginner classes, I have left their names recently.

WHo else is interested in being included in doing private consults?  

We need to work on date and time together when you schedule one.  Most of you who are holding classes now have the login information and can go to "My Meetings: on the Webex meeting center page and look at all the meetings that have been scheduled.  Also, consult the Google calendar which you will find HERE.  Then, drop me an email or a PM or post a note here in the faculty lounge letting everyone know when you will be using the Webex.

We have UNLIMITED Webex service.  Let's try to come up with ways to make more money and use the free time we have.

We need to consider how to add this feature to the current Classes page.  I will consult with the developers but want to hear from teachers how they would like to do this.  Should we just have a Class listed as "Private lessons" and then list the names of teachers who offer this service?

Do you want to put your price on the classes page?  

Thoughts?  Suggestions?  New territory here.  We want it to be easy for users to access.  I will need to work closely with you on scheduling but you can access the Google calendar and find open dates/times too.  Then, contact me to be certain no other meetings are scheduled then.

What do you charge/hour for private online lessons?

Maybe we can give information as to the type of services we provide.  I would prefer not to post charge per hour as sometimes depending on the student/lesson/troubleshooting, I might offer a segment of time for a certain price and a particular type of lesson for another.  I currently charge my private students a set price per hour but will sometimes negotiate a discount for an extended session, multiple sessions or resolving a technical/mechanical problem.  It would be nice to have that option.  People may also shop by price per hour as opposed to choosing a teacher to best assist them with their needs. That is just my 2 cents.

We can always discuss fees via email before a student commits or indicate a base price range and if discounts are offered or fees negotiable.  I think it is great to schedule a set price for a class but each private tuition situation may vary with content and research/time in preparation.

I'd be interested in possibly doing private consults.  I also charge a set price per hour for private students, with a two hour minimum for each session.  That's a face to face situation, of course, so don't know if a one hour via this method would cause me to rethink by pricing.

I have been teaching one-on-one beginner rigid heddle lessons and would be interested in this. I have always had a fee of $10 per hour or $25 for a three to four hour lesson.

I'd be interested in a one on one as well.  Especially for sewing with handwovens, problems, potentially fit issues, not sure how well I'd be able to see with webcams, but it is worth a try.  Keep me posted, and I haven't a clue how to charge for this.  Seems to me, most issues I'd be dealing with might only take a half hour or so to assist.  I could in fact charge for a one hour session.

If everyone can agree on $40/hour for private lessons that will make posting, Paypal coding and charging students much easier.  

Opinions?  At $40/ hour each teacher will receive $24/hour.  How is that?  If we start there and it's a success we can always increase in 2012.
