I'm glad to see folks joining the group!  I am busy with life beyond weaving right now but I plan to post some of my favorite finishingt books and references I have run across.  I also plan to post some photos of my favorite knots and finishes on scarves that I own or have made.  Also, tools...see you around when life slows down! 

Please share any links, books or resources you have to help finish a scarf!

I'm an avid embellisher....I pursue every avenue I can think of to make my handwoven scarves and shawls stand apart.  I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with you all.  I firmly believe that you should spend almost as much time with your finishing as you do with your weaving.

 I seem to be weaving more scarves lately. They lend themselves well to silky yarns such as tencel, bamboo and silk which are the fibers I'm intrigued by now. I really like the scalloped hem finish. I'm interested in elegant finishes other than fringe - just time for something different.

A very helpful group, Deb.  Most of my scarves are actually samples.  For that reason I usually keep the finishes simple, hemstitching and plain or twisted fringe.  I'm looking forward to trying the leno technique.

 Thanks Lois, I don't anticipate us being a very busy group, just some simple sharing as we come upon finishes or share what we know.   

One of the side benefits I realized existed here in Weavolution is that we can store links to other groups when they talk about finishes and our group forum could be a central place for scarf finishes with links to other conversations within other groups.  When I see a conversation going on I ask the group owners' permission to post the link and start a new subject so  that particular finish is clearly identifiable in our list of topics.  

Another benefit is that we can put photos within this group OR put them in our profile and post a link there.  I think we are all figuring out how to use the "technology of the moment" as best we can.  The only guarantee is that it will change again.  

So I hope the sharing continues.  I've been busy with eldercare issues and hope to get back to documenting a Lao blanket that has a wonderful finish of leno, twining and knotting fringe.  That finish was a labor of love.  I'll post it sooner or later.
