Find out about my water quality - do you want me contacting the utilities company and asking them for information?

Karren K. Brito

Yeap!  If you have municipal water, the water department is required by US law to provide an analysis to you.  Might be on the village website or they can mail it to you. Private well water is a bit more of a challenge, but some county or state extention services will analyse it for you.  Do what you can, don't spend any $$ on your investigation.  We have other means  ;). Just knowing where it comes from, Ohio river, local wells, mountian run off, is a good start.

Thanks, Karren. I figured I'd better check before plunging in. I'll have interesting water mostly coming from the western slope of Colorado (the other side of the state) that gets treated here.

Hi Karren

would you like us to post pictures of our work here before next thurs., or should we try to post during the discussion? I don't know if there is a camera here but I look for one.

Karren K. Brito

Sure, pics now.  During class could be distracting.  Some cell phones have cameras.

Sharing your yarn chips, etc. can give others ideas, part of why we join together in a class.

We're having pre-wedding issues with some people and I'm leaving tomorrow for a color class with Deb Menz two hours away.  Hopefully I'll be able to post something Monday.    Still need to get illustration board and a bound notebook but I have my shoes for the wedding!  ; D

Karren, in the homework I came across the information that nylon has the same number of reactive groups as our protein fibers but that some may dye a light color only.  Have I just been lucky thus far with my dyeing of nylon yarns?  They have all been brilliant (eye-popping actually) so this was new to me.

Do we make our color chips as close to the hues on the hue circle, or are any colors o.k. as long as we describe what hue family there are in?

Karren K. Brito

Anything is ok, we are just practicing, making chips and deteriming Munsell values.  If you have time you can go on to hue and chroma too.  Then , if you have a camera, you can put up here pics of your chips and the Munsell notation.
