Does anyone know how to read this #$%^ thing? I have tried to understand the way it is written by read the introduction details on how to interpret the listings. It still makes no sense to me at all. Every time I try and figure out what it says I get it wrong. Is there some trick I am missing?

I have this book and like it a lot, although I haven't used it in recent years except as a reference. I've been weaving for almost 50 years and I know Helene Bress. I wonder why you have trouble understanding it? It is not written for absolute beginners, I think. Did you start with a class or a beginning weaving book? Helene assumes that you are interested in weaving more than one design on any given warp, and that you want to understand how to make new drafts in a given weave structure. So it helps to know a bit about different structures- that's how she organizes her chapters. I just pulled it off the shelf and opened to the chapter on twill. It is not the most organized discussion of twill I have seen! But she includes a lot of good information.

I don't know what you mean by "the listings". Maybe the drafts? Or the way she likes to label things as A, B, C and D? She does include A LOT of little photos of samples. It shows you the range of fabrics that are woven from each different threading in the chapter.
