I am weaving my first rug and using cotton mop.  My question, how do I hide the ends?  They are so thick that my normal trick of just carrying them up the side or working them into the next pick will not work without being very noticable.  So what's the answer?

The answer to tucking in any thick yarn or the ends of rags is to taper them. A lot of rug makers that I know just leave them hanging and work them back in later.

You can always snip half the plies and integrate the other half.  A rug has lots of hiding places.

I'm not sure what you mean by taper. Are you and calebsb saying the same thing?

Yes, what you want is to cut the thick yarn in half or less to make it lay in the rag with out sticking up.

Thanks! It worked like a charm. My first rug is off the loom and washing now. Already planning the next one.
