I have a vintage loom that came without any braking hardware.   I bought a flat steel circle but not sure that is what the loom needs.   The drum is wooden.   The circle looks too SMALL.  IS IT?  The existing eyehooks/S hooks on the loom suggest a "path" (if you will) to hook it up.    When I assemble the way that seems logical, the cables I attach in order to reach the S hooks are riding "on the drum"and interfere.   Am I making any sense?

Your steel band is intended to be used with a steel drum.  It will destroy your  wood drum.  Cord works with non steel drums.

THANK YOU!   At first glance, I thought it to be a metal drum and as I was putting the steel band on, I realized it was wood.   I'm so glad I reached out and appreciate your time to post.

Any specific kind of cord?   Need it be all cotton?

My favorite is a wide electical cord, a section of old extension cord.
