I wanted a tablet loom:

     - that I could rest on my lap and the edge of the table,

     - that would let me approach the weaving from the front rather than the side as happens when you use clamps,

     - that would use a weighted warp, rather than a warp beam.    I want this option because I sometimes want to untwist the warp as I go rather than reversing the pattern.

Note that the both the front and back beams are supported by a stationary piece of wood on one side and a folding piece of wood on the other.   This allows maximum access to the warp.    I attach the warp to the front beam, hang it over the back beam with the cards between the beams, and allow the warp to hang between the "legs" where it is attached to a weights - usually a jug of water.   The front of the loom rests in my lap and the legs rest on a table edge.  If I need to get up to answer the phone, etc., I just pick up the part in my lap and rotate it 180 degrees so it rests totally on the table with the weight hanging at the edge of the table.    To advance the warp I just fold it over around the front beam and clamp it to itself.

To warp the loom, I use my portable warping board and the tablet holder placed in the middle.  The portable warping board pieces and the holder are all clamped down during the warping process.

I don't have a warp on this loom currently, but next time I do I'll take pictures!

PS.   I also made the little shuttles out of some scrap wood.

Hi Sally,

Nicely done.  I look forward to seeing it with a warp on it.

BTW, we are working on the FAQ and Help section but there is a document to help you post your photos in with you comments rather than as an attachment.  You can find it HERE.
