Here is our "new" baby given to my 9 year old by my weaving teacher.  I has a J.L. Hammet label but looks identical to early Artcraft.  The heddles have been replaced and the beater looks like it came from another model but it works like a charm (a very noisy charm).  Anyone have any information on this loom - we love finding out the history of things!

sequel (not verified)

Hammett was sold by School Products, which sold a lot of stuff to schools. It's very possible they contracted with Structo to build looms and put a Hammett label on them, since Hammett was one of their own house brands.

are round (like vintage typewriter keys), I would guess this is an earlier model.

Yup... round, indented levers.  I taped numbers to them to help my daughter follow patterns.  I forgot to mention, the reed is not original.  We cut down a reed to length and then used newspaper to make up the small height gap. Obviously, the heddles are not original either.  My weaving teacher was telling me that another of her students restored it about 10 years ago, replacing the heddles and removing the most egregious rust.  However, upon looking at other models, it does look like the beater may be original.  I'm thinking mid-1920's??
