I have a Glimakra Pysslingen Table Loom with string heddles.  Unfortunately 75 too few heddles for my next project.  Does any one know if there would be an issue if I just added the additional proper sized texsolv heddles (so I would have a mix of two kinds) or are the two types dissimilar enough  to affect my project?

As long as the length is very close and the heddle eyes are aligned I say go for it!  LOVE texsolv!

You'll have to place on one of them on your harness assembly and see how the threads line up especially when you make a shed...the "eyes" need to line up or come near. Variations can cause that lovely thing we've all see on plain weave called twilling (that's what they called it in Texas anyway). It's still not a problem if there's a slight difference, just a little surface variation...but a substancial difference can cause shed problems and even tension problems.

That's what I thought, the loom is old enough that I haven't been able to find more of the same type of heddles, so will gradually move to the texsolv.  Thanks for all of your advice, confirms I am on the right track at least.

Interested in purchasing some.

missbecky,

you can talk with some of the dealers or manufacturers of looms, they usually stock texsolv for floor looms at least.

Joanne Hall, Sara von Tresckow in the USA or Camilla Valley Farms (Nina Manners) in Canada. All are forum members here. Depends on where you live, you will probably want to purchase from a dealer in your country. You make find some for sale as used or almost new from this site. You will have to find out the size you need by discussing your loom model and type with folks that sell them. I know some of the ones I listed have multiple loom models from more than one maker.
