I would like to weave fabric to carry my child.  i need to have the finished width at 26", but i only have a 22" loom.

the two options i can think of are:

2 lengths stitched together - would a seam be comfortable and sturdy enough?

one length where part of the weaving is doubleweave.  from my research, twill would be the best, but since i have only 4 shafts, i would only be able to do the center portion as double weave, while the edges would have to be plain weave. (can i even do that??)

ok, i can think of more than two - get a new loom, doubleweave the whole thing in plain weave....

thanks!

Or 2 panels with a seam.  Seams are stronger than the cloth.

my inkle skills are weak.  lol.

any particular type of seam?  i've done very little sewing together of handwoven yardage, do you think whipstitching or a french seam (or something else?) would be best?

But I've seen a rebozo that was two narrower strips sewn together, with knotted fringe hanging below.  It was occupied at the time (bebe), so don't  know how the seams were made, but I got the impression the edges were simply overcast, and the fringe caught up in it and knotted.  It worked well for bebe because it almost automatically folded over to form an enclosure.
