Hello and Welcome.  It's good to some familiar "faces" and to meet some new ones.

Hi Cathy,

As a brand, spankin'-new weaver (actually, I'm still a non-weaver until my loom arrives next week), I'm very excited to get to learn another craft as well as bust my stash!  :-)

Thanks for starting the group!

Central VA weaving shops?

Hi there - I was wondering where, besides the internet, central Virginians can purchase weaving supplies?  Are there any decent shops within decent driving distance?

Thanks!

Stony Mountain Fibers in Charlottesville - Barbara Gentry is the owner.  She has lots of nice stuff and it is a very lovely drive from Richmond.  Here is the web site - http://www.angelfire.com/va2/fibers/ .  The weaving shop in Alexandria is no more.

Thanks, Cathy.  I figured Barbara's shop might be the only one anywhere nearby.  It's been awhile since I visited - I need to go there again sometime soon!

I'm selling a Schacht 4 harness low castle 36" standard floor loom.  It's an older one, not a 4-now, 4-later.  The brake has been updated from the original.  I'm posting this here because I'm not ready to go nationwide.  Loom will come with one reed (your choice of available sizes!) for $650.  Currently in storage but in very good condition.  It had been in an art classroom before I got it, so it's not pristine, but it is a very nice loom.  Look on the Schacht website to see what they look like.  Delivery can be arranged in Richmond area.

I really like this loom, and regret having to sell it.  I've got a new (old) 8 harness now and the Lottery hasn't yet paid off so I cannot buy a bigger house to keep all this stuff in.
