Hello Michigan!,

As a new fan of ravelry, I was really excited that we weavers have our own dedicated social network. The creators of Weavolution have done a great job - It's an exciting prospect to be able to share and learn with and from each other.

Let's make this Michigan Group vibrant!

I'm in Metamora which is located 20 miles east of Flint.

There are many of us in this Great Lake State...who and where are you?

Talk soon.

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm located in Bear Lake, MI in Manistee County.  I've been spinning for about 5 years, knitting longer than I care to think about, and really, really new weaver.  My loom will be arriving on June 20th.  I've taken several lessons from a lady in my spinning group who's taught weaving and spinning over the years.  She sent me and my classmate home with table top student looms to work on a 4" sampler of twill patterns.

I have a farm and raise Finn sheep and sell the fleece to handspinners.  I'm looking forward to weaving to add to my other fibery addictions.  Glad someone started a MI group...thanks!

Hi I'm Kathy from the Ann Arbor area.  I'm new to weaving but seem to be getting lots of looms.  I've taken a weaving class at Forma in Whitmore Lake.  I have a LeClerc jack loom, a Dorset floor loom, two rigid heddles, weavettes and a pot holder loom.  I just can't stop getting looms, :-)  I mostly have just made scarves but have bigger ideas in my head.

I also spin so that is why I wanted to learn to weave, my yarn stash is growing faster than I could every knit with it.  I look foward to finding out what others are doing and other fiber events happening around Michigan!

Thanks for starting this group, Mary. I do enjoy your Blog.

I'm Deborah H (formerly of Scarlet Zebra with a name change, now Sea Air Arts - long story) and I live near Imlay City, about 33 miles west of Port Huron. I work on Fridays at Heritage in lake Orion. I weave on either an 8 shaft, 60" swedish loom (counter-march), a 16 shaft, 40" AVL peg dobby, or a 4 shaft, 22" Rasmussen table loom (with legs). With all that impressive equipment, you would think I do more weaving than I do - but I also knit (a lot), spin, dye, and do art quilting, beading, wire work, and most recently some fused glass. Some would call that a "Jack of all trades, and expert at none".

But I have fun  ;o)

I've been a member of Weavolution for about ten minutes. I'll post more when I have explored around a bit.

Hi Deborah!

Good to "see" you. Can you list your blog - it's worth seeing!

"I'm new to weaving but seem to be getting lots of looms."

Hey!  I resemble that remark!  I've only really concidered myself a weaver since I took a class from Mary a few months back.  Somehow I have accumulated 4 looms and I'm taking delivery on a 48" Cranbrook tomorrow (if the delivery guy shows up, sigh).  I guess it's time to sell a few of the ones that didn't turn out to be my final loom...

I just got a catalog from The Yarn Barn of Kansas that has fabulous kits for new weavers.  I've been looking online for some things to try that don't need too much thinking, just doing for the new-to-me loom.  First up, though, is a blanket for my #1 son in school (Pitt) colors.

Hi I'm Sue and in Waterford /E. Lansing

I am new to weaving --but hooked, I have taken a Rigid Heddle class with Nancy

at Woven Arts in E. Lansing... what a great store and wonderful teacher.  I have

a 25" flip and a cricket....May add a floor loom as soon as tomorrow....

I fell in love with Alpacas and since living in a condo doesn't  seem like

a good place for the Alpacas, I can at least weave with the fiber...

It is great to see so many Michigan Weavers..

The group discussions and forums on Weavolution confuse me.  What happened to the posts that you had done earlier about the things going on in Michigan?  I don't see any of them now.  I also found the "new" post to the group about the lavendar wands.  I read the post but when I went back to the group's main page I didn't see that post either.  Am I missing something or am I just totally daffy?
