I'm looking for information on attaching the lamms to the treadles of a 16-harness floor loom. I must be doing it wrong because it's a real chore. It's a Type B folding loom and the old-style pedal hooks. Thanks.

Diane, does your loom have a "lamm depresser" attached to the frame? Write down your tie up petal to petal from left to right (or right to left) and using the lamm depresser, depress the #16 lamm. Now as you stated the "real chore" begins. Using your chart put a hook in every threadle that uses the #16 frame (shaft). Now depress #15 and start over. On some looms there are two lamm depressed one on the front and one on the back. Putting the hooks in (check your hooks to see if they are all the same size (Macomber makes 3 sizes) also check to see if any are bent. Put the hook into the groove of the treadle and "hook" the hook into the hole in the lamm from the from the front. Have a strong light in the back of the lamms helps.

Here is a picture of the lamm depresser.

Michael, Thanks so much. That's exactly what I needed to know. I was not using the lamm depresser which made it extremely difficult to access individual lamms. I appreciate the picture, as well.

I was very lucky to get this loom. But having no manual has made things a bit interesting. I've almost exclusively used a Harrisville loom, which is much different.
