Hi all,

I'm new to this site.  I don't currently weave, so I will be lerking for awhile at least hoping to learn from all of you!

I've been looking at looms on various sites and craigs list.   So my question is, what kind of loom would you recommend for a brand new weaver who know nothing about all this?

Some like to start with a less expensive type of loom, perhaps a rigid heddle loom.  If a large floor loom will intimidate you, that may be a good way to start.  If you go to the HGA site, Handweavers Guild of America, there is a listing of weaving guilds in each state.  If you join your local guild, you will meet other weavers and learn from them.  There may even be some classes available in your area.  If you are interested in a floor loom, you can read about them here:

beginning weaver and started out ona  rigid heddle loom which I adore. I plan on taking some classes on floor looms after the first of the year and have been learning about the various types of looms out there. Thank you Joanne for the link above. if was very informative and helpful.

Thank you Joanne for all the useful information.   There certinally is a lot to learn, but I think it will be great fun!
