Hey Sally :) I've been interested in doing what you describe with the sett, especially when I first discovered what different setts (by improper sleying of a dent in a project) does to a piece.

Good stuff. :)

This new cover image shows the denting. (I found out some of the software doesn't render the denting info from my software.)

Special thanks to mleshleman for reminding me to post the draft!

Hi Sally,

I am interested in the crammed denting for your towel and I cannot open the wif file to see your denting order. Is it still possible for you to send this to me. Thank you.

I am curious, what software are you using that gives the option of showing the denting? I have tried opening your WIF file in various demo versions of software and havent located one that shows the denting. I can see the threading, not the sleying. What reed are you using? I am trying to figure out the sett. From the x's shown in the cover shot it looks like 12 dents equals 36 threads. Thanks!

Notes

Note the irregular sley order, indicated by the "x" below the threading on the downloadable wif file. The sleying varies between 2, 3, 4 or 5 per dent, and differs slightly between the white and blue stripes, with the twill areas being crammed into a single dent to make the ridges rise when the fabric is washed.

For more on Dimity, see Handwoven, Sept-Oct 2008.

If you can't open a wif file, PM me, and I can send you a screen capture that shows the denting for one complete repeat.
