I have a few extra hand-made quill shuttles from a batch recently finished first part of July 2016.

The shuttles are constructed of 3 or 5 layers of native woods including black walnut, curly maple (plus bird’s eye and tiger maple), and curly cherry. The black walnut is plantation raised from a family farm in Minnesota.

The shuttles are highly contoured for ease of use and because they are handmade, no two shuttles are alike. The fine finish is achieved through a lengthy finishing process using multiple grades of sandpaper through 2000 grit. They are then finished with multiple coats of sealant shellac, urethane, and carnauba wax for durability and to bring out the best of the wood grain.

The polished bobbin rod is made from high-grade 3.5mm diameter stainless steel, and works by an internal wire spring action to stay in the open or closed position.

Shuttles available with photos / descriptions are shown on website: https://www.canopuswoodandweave.com/ (under "Weaving tools / Quill Shuttles).  Yarn slot inserts at either end are Brazilian ebony to reduce wear from abrasive yarns.

You can email for details / additional photos at: [email protected].

I also adore this shuttle! Works well for damask as well, since it's a nice low profile shuttle. Lovely to use and to admire.
