I would love for everyone to share any free patterns for inkle or tablet weaving.

I only know of one, so more is always better. lol

arizona/handweaving.net is full of all sorts of patterns. If you go through to handweaving.net, there is a much better search engine and you can find all the inkle documents very easily.

www.handweaving.net/DAHome.aspx    will get you through to the quicker search engine.

There is a lovely Celtic band pattern here:

and there are a couple of free patterns on the Handwoven website too as well as on Weavezine

 My favourite free tablet weaving pattern directory is http://www.theloomybin.com/cw/libindex.html

It also has a free online programme to help you in learning to design your own patterns. You can find out if something will work within a couple of clicks, with no wasted warps.

maybe you are interested in some german pattern ( " Muster ") ressources. If you click to the red words you will find the patterns and there are mostly no german language knowings requiered.

Thank you, Kristina, they are beautiful!  I like the threaded-in colours most of all.  On the Einzugsmuster charts, please translate:

HO = hinten oben, HU = hinten unten, VU = vorne unten, VO = vorne oben
 

I'm guessing these are the positions of the holes that are threaded according to the chart.  Is this right?

HO = back top

HU = back bottom

VU = front bottom

VO = front top

Hi, I just joined this group, I've been using an inkle for a few years now and was getting bored with it so I surfed the web to find new patterns and found the pick up method. I've been trying it out for the last few days and I'm having a hard time figuring it all out. I was wondering if any of you can recommend a good book for me to learn from. The directions I've found on the internet are not the best.  thanks for the help,Jesse

 great info, thanks so much.  I am taking a cardweaving class at the middle TN fiber festival in May.  I am so glad that I will be able to have so much available to me once I can understand what in the world it is talking about.   LOL!  I have woven for a number of years on a floor loom, and have just recently been interested in these other more ancient types of looms.

Besides theloomybin.com, I also have used Babette’s tablet weaving pattern editor.  The site is in German, but Google translate helps make fair sense of the site.http://www.b-oberholz.de/editor/index.php  - literally hundreds of patterns, with the ability to edit them in a browserPhiala’s String Page  http://www.stringpage.com/tw/tw.html has a terrific presentation about the 5 things you need to know about tablet weaving.  I highly recommend it.  One of the things she emphasizes is that different software programs may have a different point of view as to how they present a draft.  It took me a while to figure that one out – once I learned to look at the cards and how the colors were moving in them, I could work back how the pattern generators were working.  The loomybin patterns all show the card threading below the pattern, for the particular row that is at the top of the draft.  You unweave each row, then you can figure the card threading for each row – that will tell you if a card is going forward or backward.  Babette’s editor uses white and grey shading to indicate forward and backward turning, but the slash marks indicate the twining direction, not the threading.

I have found a number of tablet designs on Deviant Art by one of their members. If you follow the link you can see stuff she has made as welll as being able to download many designs for free.Not too much instruction but a neat batch of how to weave runes!
