My warp is already threaded through the heddles and tied onto the back warp rod. Now that I am cranking it onto the warp beam my warp beam I am noticing it not going straight down and under around the warp beam. It wants to go up around then down over the warp beam. I think the cloth was stapled onto the warp beam in the wrong direction.

Should I remove the cloth and restaple it to go in the right direction or does it matter which way it goes onto back warp beam? I was planning on putting paper between the layers anyway.

Thanks for any input!

If your loom is as the manufacturer delivered it, the apron is most certainly attached correctly.

It is also normal to warp a loom by winding the warp onto the beam first which gives great clarity during the process.

If you do not have an instructor or a good book (not Chandler), please look up how looms are to be warped, how they are delivered. Weaving is a skilled trade, not something you "just pick up on YouTube" - go slowly one step at a time and look up some good information and things will go better.

My loom is used so I don't know if it was warp beam cloth was properly setup.`The lady I bought it off of was getting ready to put on new cloths on front and back warp beams.

Which direction does the warp need to be wound in order for the brake to work? Some looms go one way, some go the other.... Cheers Laura

I think pictures might really help on this one. If you don't have time for that do you know which loom you have?
