I like to warp my Ashford rigid heddle with the direct method described in the booklet that came with it, but I thought that the method of placing the warp on the back warp stick needed improved. I discovered a wonderfully easy way to do it that only requires you to use the clamps that came with it to hold the stick. The only things you will need are two more nuts that fit the clamps, and other clamps such as c-clamps to hold the loom in place if you don't have a stand, and to hold the warping peg, and a heavy rubber band. You don't have to drill any holes or alter your loom in any way. I am adding a picture to my loomstand project on the project page, that should be self-explanatory. The rubber band is to hold the stick to the clamp so it won't slip off. One of the wooden clamp blocks is used on the right hand bracket to keep the stick evenly spaced; I find it amazing that it is exactly the right size. The wing nuts are turned upside down and two other nuts are used on the end of the screw. This keeps the bracket from moving around. It's simple to extend the stick further as your warp gets wider - just move it down to the next set of holes. When the warp is on, you can use the brackets at each end to hold the stick while you tie it in place. Use the wooden blocks on both clamps for this.
