For my latest dyebath i used chestnut husk. A prickly adventure to gather them . 

The dyebath looked very dark and promising. 

The first result was a golden yellow. It looks light on the photo but it will be more intense once it is spun into yarn.

after that I have added 2 g potas . The colour turned much browner . I used it to overdye some wool from earlier experiments that I didn't like so much (too pale).

Thank you for sharing, I just ran an acorn bath today for some wool.  Nice golden brown.  What is the 2 g potas you refer to up above to make the color go darker?  I'm guessing 2 grams, is it potash? an alkaline?  just curious and learning!  take care Deb Mc

that is right. It is a potassium(Kalium in dutch)salt. I have used just a small amount of 2 grams .It is found in wood ash.I think I read somewhere that juniper wood is used for this. soak the ashes in water and use just the liquid. but I used the refined product.
