My AVL PDL, with a CD IV that's three years old, and hasn't been used a lot, has always benn a joy.  Quite suddenly, in the middle of a lage warp of a 14 shaft twill (using 15 & 16 as salvedges), it has started randomly selecting 15 or 16, sometimes both, sometimes neither.  It is also mis patterning throughout.   AVL has given me a list of things to check (treadles, adjusting the dobby head), but nothing that they have suggested has found the problem or a solution.  I did find that the reason it was dropping 5 was because the cable was just a little slacker than the others.  Has anyone had a similar situation?  It's behaving as if it's absent minded- oh, was I supposed to pick up 14?  You say I picked up 15 on the last pick and it was supposed to be 16?  Aaaarrrrgggg!

AVL regained its senses when I unplugged the refrigerator that I had just plugged downstairs for summer beer storage.  This thanks to advice from the Yahoo weaving group.
