This looks COOL!

What is the "design challenge" part of this? And if this is the warp, what are you crossing this with?

One of the colors will be the weft and I like to create a design that is meant to step out of the stripes - in structure and color.  So I've chosen looped pile for it.

Oh that looks lovely and the description of your intended pattern sounds really interesting, can't wait to see how it turns out.

This is fun. Yes, you must play more and make a whole set of cushions!

Notes

11.05.2011:

I have chosen the yarn and the colors: like to have a sunny-sommer-style, so I took cotton and bright colors.

13.05.2011:

I managed warping. I thought a lot about the stripes and finally decided to make only five ones, because more of them could be too much distraction from the central motif. I hope this still goes with the theme of the WAL.

20.05.2011:

I started weaving. At first, I had to do some trial & error, in order to choose the appropriate size of the knitting needle, but finally I decided for the 5mms and 2 rows between the loops (to stabilize the fabric). Now that I better can imagine the finished look, I regret that I did'nt do some more stripes (at least in the middle). Well, let's see. Maybe I will do a second piece. Cushions never come singly, do they?

11.06.2011:

I finally finished weaving. Next step is washing before I will sew in the zipper.

12.06.2011:

The zipper is in and so is the filling. I will definitly think about some other pillows but will vary the making. Let's see...
